August Wallén lämnar ordförandeposten i IMMAF, Bertrand Amoussou tar över

August Wallén har varit ordförande för International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) sedan det grundades och han meddelade redan i sommar att han kommer att avgå som ordförande per den sista september. Från och med i dag tisdagen den 1 oktober tar ordförandeskapet i IMMAF över av fransmannen Bertrand Amoussou.

August Wallén skrev igår på sin Facebook-sida:

Today is my last day as president for the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation. From Tomorrow the 1st of October Mr Bertrand Amoussou takes over. I wish Bertrand all the best and I will support him as much as I can in the work with establishing MMA as a recognized sport all around the world. The IMMAF was registered on the 29th of February 2012 and announced to the MMA society on the 12 of …April the same year. I have been it’s president from the start, a little more than a year and a half, and over that time our team have managed to establish IMMAF as THE international MMA federation. We have managed to grow fast with maintained quality and IMMAF now have 24 membership countries and numerous applications. We have announced that a world championship will take place in Las Vegas 2014 and IMMAF are heading onto a bright future. I want to thank all of you that have taken part in the work; this would not have been possible without you!

Today I encourage everyone in the world of MMA to take moment out of their day and send a thought of thanks to one amazing man, August Wallén. I want to thank my friend, colleague and (for another few hours still), boss, for his time as President of the IMMAF. Thank you for realizing that the sport of MMA deserved its own representation, thank you for devoting your time, resources and energy in to this project, and by that giving thousands of MMA athletes, practitioners and fans a better future. Thank you for the debates and the discussions where we together reached a result that was far greater than the two of us combined. You are visionary, stubborn as hell, hard as a rock but also caring and embracing towards the people around you to an extent that few understand. Now we wait with excitement as you embark on a new period where your energy is spent on our most exciting task so far – The IMMAF World Championships. Upwards and onwards!
